Dr. Macadam awarded Best Paper by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

In October 2015, Dr. Macadam had the pleasure of attending the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Annual Meeting, "Plastic Surgery The Meeting" in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Macadam was invited to speak at this international meeting about her recently published research paper entitled Quality of Life and Patient-Reported Outcomes in Breast Cancer Survivors: A Multi-Center Comparison of Four Abdominally-Based Autologous Reconstruction Methods. This paper compared four different types of autologous breast reconstruction (i.e. reconstruction using a patient's own body tissue), and was the result of 5 years of comprehensive work and research. This project was funded by a generous grant from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Check out the photo below of Dr. Macadam at the podium giving her talk!

In addition to giving this presentation, Dr. Macadam and colleagues also accepted their "Best Paper Award" for another research paper. They were granted this award by the ASPS Journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Boston meeting. See the photo below of the group with their award.

At this international 5-day meeting, Dr. Macadam attended numerous educational sessions where surgeons and researchers from all over the world presented the latest technology and advancements in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The presentations were informative and inspiring, and Dr. Macadam left the meeting feeling confident that all of the latest surgical techniques discussed at the meeting are indeed being offered to her patients here in Vancouver.
